Air Conditioning Recharge in Castro Valley, CA at Mallard Auto Care

Mallard Auto Care offers superior automotive air conditioning recharge service in Castro Valley. We offer wide range of air conditioning services, including a/c testing and a/c recharge. We employ nationally ASE certified technicians who have undergone extensive training and we equip them with the latest tools necessary to professionally diagnose and repair or service automotive air conditioning systems.

As your vehicle ages, there is an increased probability that its air conditioning system will lose Freon and will need to be recharged. If your vehicle’s a/c system no longer satisfies your needs, it’s likely time to have your vehicle inspected for ac system leaks, and possible recharge.

We recommend system testing, because automotive a/c system should not be losing refrigerant. A professional a/c test will let you know if there is a leak, or there is some other reason why the ac is not blowing cold air. As an aside, Bay Area Air Quality Management District adopted a rule couple of decades ago that forbids recharging of an a/c system without first testing for leaks.

This rule is one of the reasons why our technicians will start by testing your vehicle’s a/c system for leaks. We also don’t want Freon escaping into the atmosphere we breathe, and we don’t want you to have to come back for another recharge.

If no leaks are detected, and there are no other malfunctions of the air conditioning systems, we will recharge your vehicle’s ac and perform thorough testing to verify that it behaves appropriately under different settings.

So when your vehicle’s a/c starts blowing warm air, bring it to Mallard Auto Care. For your peace of mind, all repairs and services performed by Mallard Auto Care are covered by 36 months / 36,000 miles warranty. Call us or setup an appointment online.

Automotive A/C R-1234YF Recharge in Castro Valley , CA

At Mallard Auto Care we are committed to providing Quality, Value, Service. To fulfill this commitment we continue to expand the range of services we offer, including auto air conditioning services. That’s why we are pleased to announce that Mallard Auto Care in Castro Valley can now provide complete air conditioning refill service using the latest R-1234YF refrigerant.

R-1234YF refrigerant has become standard on many new vehicles in the United States and in Europe. The old refrigerant, R-134a, is deemed unfriendly to the environment and is being phased out. The new refrigerant requires brand new, and fairly expensive equipment, along with additional training, so few independent auto repair shops are willing to incur the cost. Furthermore, few shops have the space to house both old and new equipment. At Mallard Auto Care we made a commitment to our clients, to provide their vehicles with refrigerant they need – whether the old R-134a or the new R-1234YF variety.

To find out if your vehicle requires the new refrigerant, it is best to check the owner’s manual for your vehicle. The new refrigerant might be listed under many designations. Here is a list of the equivalent designations – if your vehicle manual mentions any of them, your car needs the new refrigerant:

YF-1234, YF1234, HFO1234YF, R1234YF, HFO-1234, R1234, R-1234-YF, or HFO-1234-YF

At Mallard Auto Care in Castro Valley we offer complete a/c services, from testing, to refill and repairs of the R-1234YF systems.

An interesting tidbit – it’s not just the new refrigerant that’s good for the environment. The new equipment is also designed to be environmentally friendly. It has different fittings to prevent cross-contamination between the old and new refrigerants. It also has built-in sensors to identify the refrigerant, and it will not recover the refrigerant if it is contaminated.

One big drawback of the new refrigerant is its high cost. That’s why we test the a/c system for leaks before R-1234YF recharge. We expect refrigerant price to come down as the demand grows, and manufacturers invest in more production facilities. In the meantime, if you suspect a/c leak, call us to make an appointment – before more of this expensive stuff leaks out.

As mentioned previously, at Mallard Auto Care in Castro Valley we offer full range of a/c maintenance services and repairs, and we offer both R-134a and R-1234YF recharge services. So if your vehicle’s a/c system is not providing the cool air you expect, call us to make an appointment. Our nationally ASE certified technicians can inspect, diagnose, and repair any problems your vehicle’s A/C system may exhibit.

Driving without air conditioning on a hot summer day is horrible. There are different reasons your Subaru’s AC might stop working, one of which is when it needs a refill. A simple ac recharge may be all you need to get the AC blowing cool air again. Your Subaru’s air conditioning system uses a highly specialized refrigerant gas to keep the vehicle cool. Depending on the age of your Subaru, it may be R-134a or for newer cars, the R-1234YF refrigerant. At Mallard Auto Care in Castro Valley we have equipment to handle either type of the refrigerant – whatever your Subaru needs, we have it ready. In theory, your Subaru should never run out of the refrigerant, but like any system, the AC system can develop leaks. This can cause the refrigerant to drop very low. When this happens, the system has to be recharged with refrigerant for it to function properly again. How to know your Subaru’s AC needs a recharge Here are common signs that your Subaru’s AC system may need a refill: • Blows warm air When the AC system is low on refrigerant, it blows warm air from the supply vents. Since the cooling effect depends on the amount of refrigerant available, low level of the refrigerant will cause the system to blow warmer air. • AC compressor clutch doesn’t engage When you switch on your vehicle’s AC, the compressor clutch ought to engage for the system to work properly. If the refrigerant level is too low, the AC compressor clutch may not engage. • Visible leaks Leaks are a reason for low refrigerant levels, but you can tell that your AC needs a refill before it gets critically low by looking out for any sign of liquid around the compressor, lines, or inside the cabin. In this instance, the leak has to be fixed before the AC is refilled. If you suspect low refrigerant levels in your Subaru, it is best to let a professional mechanic inspect the system for leaks, and have them repaired before ac refill. At Mallard Auto Care we are experts at a/c system diagnostics and repairs – so if your Subaru is not keeping you cool, give us a call or make an appointment online.
